Curiosity Isn’t Just a Gift, It’s the Start of Something Extraordinary

✨ February 2026

Maya has always been full of questions, how things work, why people act the way they do, and what makes her different. But middle school isn’t always kind to those who see the world differently. When curiosity sets her apart, Maya must learn that her questions are her greatest strength.

Growing Up Extraordinary: Maya’s Gift of Curiosity is a heartfelt story about friendship, self-discovery, and the power of embracing who you are. Perfect for readers ages 8–12.

Meet Maya

Maya sees the world through questions. She’s the kind of girl who pays attention to small details, who pauses to watch the way rain slides down a window, and who wonders why some people smile with their eyes while others don’t. Her curiosity is her superpower, even when she doesn’t realize it.

At school, Maya often feels torn between fitting in and following her natural sense of wonder. But her curiosity leads her on an extraordinary journey of learning, courage, and connection, showing that being different isn’t something to fix, it’s something to celebrate.

✨ Why I Wrote This Book

When I first began writing The Extraordinary Adventures picture books, I wanted to create stories that helped children feel seen and valued. As my young readers grew, I realized they needed stories that grew with them, stories that explored what it means to be curious, kind, and confident as they navigate new seasons of life.

Maya’s Gift of Curiosity was born from that desire. I wrote this story for the children who think deeply, feel deeply, and are sometimes overlooked because they’re considered “gifted.” I wrote it for the kids who ask endless questions, who dream big, and who see the world a little differently.

My hope is that Maya’s story reminds every reader, young and old, that curiosity is a strength, and that the courage to keep asking “why” can lead us to purpose, compassion, and extraordinary growth.
